South Sound Symphonic Band Announces Season 44 Concert Series
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Four free concerts invite the South Sound community to experience music, creativity, and connection
[Pierce County, WA] — September 25, 2026 — The South Sound Symphonic Band (SSSB) will begin its 44th season this fall with four free concerts featuring engaging music, community traditions, and opportunities for audiences to participate.
All concerts begin at 3:00 PM and will be held at the Graham-Kapowsin High School Auditorium.
Be Our Guest — November 1, 2026
SSSB opens Season 44 by putting its own musicians in the spotlight. The program features two selections composed by members of the ensemble: She Made Her Way Through Desolation by Emily Graham and Concerto for Trombone and Wind Ensemble, movement 2: Fat Orleans by David Lambert. Lambert will also be featured as the soloist on his composition.
Audience members will have an opportunity to participate in a special coloring-page art gallery, adding their own creativity to the concert experience.
Season’s Greetings — December 6, 2026
Celebrate the season with holiday and seasonal favorites in one of SSSB’s most popular programs.
The concert will include the band’s annual performance of Sleigh Ride conducted by someone from the audience! A raffle held during the November concert gives one lucky winner the opportunity to conduct the band during the December performance.
The program will conclude with a festive holiday carol sing-along, inviting the audience to join the musicians in making music together.
Take Flight — March 7, 2027
Soar to new heights with music that lifts the spirit and challenges the imagination. And be ready to join the fun with a special paper airplane contest during the concert.
From the Heart — May 16, 2027
SSSB closes Season 44 with a program exploring what it means to love, be loved, and find meaning in our lives. The season finale will also celebrate the optimism and promise of youth through the band’s Thomas E. Anderson Student Scholarship feature.
