Testimonials

St. Francis – David Maslanka

You did a heck of a job! This was real bravery on your part to step into this unknown territory, and to ask your players to come along. Everybody gave everything and the music came fully to life. You can always worry about details, things that were never clean, or didn’t happen in performance, but what came out of your band was the music in its full power. For which I say bravo and a profound thank you. Please share my thoughts with your players. You have an exceptional band and I hope that you will look at other of my pieces.

The Eighth Candle – Steve Reisteter

Hi! A friend told me about your YouTube video of “The Eighth Candle.”

First off, thanks for programming it. Secondly, my thanks go out to you and the South Sound Symphonic Band for performing it so well. You were in no hurry to get through the “prayer” part like so many other groups are. I really enjoyed hearing your performance and I’m going to check out your other selections on YouTube.

I saw that you performed the piece on December 5. What’s funny is that I performed it the next day. One of the groups that I perform with is the Allentown (PA) Band. It’s the country’s oldest community concert band (est. 1828) and it’s the group that premiered “The Eighth Candle.” The guy who the piece is dedicated to, Ronny Demkee, conducted it that day. I played clarinet.

Anyway, thanks again for a delightful listening experience and take care!

I keep getting many comments as to how wonderful the band’s performance was yesterday.  From all of us involved, many, many thanks for such outstanding music.
Congressman Denny Heck told me afterwards that he thought you were magnificent, that he didn’t know how good the band was and the band needs to be better known and appreciated.  Many others said they really enjoyed the program and how the music fit the theme so well.
I agree.  It just seemed that each number seemed to underscore the previous or next speaker’s message.  Great job.
Please pass on to the band members our heartfelt appreciation for what they did yesterday.  For me, I look forward to December 5th and will take every opportunity to promote your concert.  See you then.  And please let me know if there is anything I can do.
